March 2nd. About 55 pupils chose to persuade their parents that school was the place to be on a 'snow day' caused by The Beast from the East. The school has about twenty full boarders so we are never 'closed' but many more pupils persuaded their parents that they wanted to come to school. Indoors there were sessions in the sports hall, in the swimming pool, in the science lab (investigating the volume of water resulting from a given volume of snow), revision sessions for the Common Entrance candidates and hot chocolate at breaks. But there were three voluntary sessions of tobogganing and associated snow activities. One parent reported, 'Yesterday has officially been recorded as the best school day ever, so thank you for all that went into making it such a fun day for the kids.'
