INSPECTION REPORT

 

The 2008 Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) Inspection report for our schools is now available and copies may be obtained upon request from the school office or downloaded from the ISI website via this link http://www.isi.net/reports/2008/0160_08.pdf .

 

The report includes sections on 'The quality of education', 'The quality of care and relationships' and 'The Early Years Foundation Stage'.  It is highly complimentary about the schools throughout.  For example, the Inspection found that:

 

  • “The school(s) are particularly successful in enabling pupils to become confident, articulate and hard working young people"

 

  • "The schools' aims are clearly fulfilled in the way in which pupils' happiness is at the centre of all that takes place within the community"

 

  • "Pupils are securely grounded in knowledge and understanding in all that they undertake. They write well and their speaking and listening skills are frequently outstanding".

 

  • "Very considerable, outstanding planning and other work has incorporated all the requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage into the study programme, underpinning the very high priority placed on supporting the specific needs of individual children."

 

  • About our boarding, the report finds, “Boarders experience an enjoyable and exciting aspect of the school’s provision and have an excellent range of activities from which to choose”

 

 The report also points to a number of areas where our systems might be improved and these are already being followed up. 

 

Finally, the report points to two regulatory areas requiring attention.  The first relates to fire prevention measures and these have been implemented.  The second relates to recruitment file procedures. This has already been substantially rectified and the remaining collation and documentation will be completed by the end of March.

 

We would like to thank parents for their significant support for the work of the schools before and during the inspection: there are many references in the report to the approval shown in the parental questionnaire and in the comments of parents who spoke to inspectors during the week.
