Dear Parents,

Under the rolling programme of inspections, Brockhurst and Marlston House schools, including Ridge House, will be visited by an Independent Schools Inspectorate team (ISI) in early October.

This will involve a visit by a team of inspectors led by a reporting inspector.  Before the visit, the reporting inspector will make two preliminary visits (one will be later in June) to get to know the school and the school will have provided information for the team to analyse.  

Parents will very shortly receive a questionnaire from the reporting inspector to give them the opportunity to express their views.  

We will also be arranging with the reporting inspector for pupils to complete a questionnaire giving their views about the school.  This is done within the school day (it takes only a few minutes to complete) and is supervised by the Reporting Inspector.

The main visit in October will last three and a half days.  Pupils will meet inspectors in lessons, at registration or assembly, and in activities.  The inspectors will not join in lessons or activities, but they may talk to pupils about their work or activities if there is a chance.  Some pupils, in small groups, will be asked to have an interview with an inspector.  There are two kinds of interviews, curriculum group interviews or broad interviews.  Pupils selected for a curriculum group interview will be talking to an inspector about work in one or two of their subjects.  Some pupils are selected for a broad interview, where a group of pupils talk to the inspector about their general views of the school.  Pupils will also meet the inspectors at other times, say at meal times, and are encouraged to talk to them then.

Before leaving the school, the inspectors will report the gist of their findings to senior staff.  A few weeks later, a written report will be published and parents will receive a copy.
