Brockhurst and Marlston House Schools offer a unique choice of education which aims to combine the best attributes of the single-sex and co-education systems.’
The two schools share a magnificent estate in Bucklebury, Berkshire, and aim to provide a first class all-round education for boys and girls in a disciplined and happy, family environment from rising three to thirteen years of age.
Boys and girls are first taught together in a vibrant co-educational pre-prep department. From six years of age they are taught separately in small single-sex classes because we believe this is the best system for developing their academic potential. However, they continue to mix for their many social and extracurricular activities which we regard as the great benefit of co-education. Finally, they come together again for their preparation for the Common Entrance exams at the age of thirteen.
We aim to develop enthusiastic, appropriately self-confident and well-mannered boys and girls with enquiring minds. However, it is our belief that children are best equipped to make the most of their lives and talents when self-confidence is allied with determination and perseverance.
Cultivating these attributes lies at the core of our ethos.
