Boarding

Brockhurst aims to make boarding an extension of family life. The Headmaster and his family live in the school and he acts as House-master to the boarders with the assistance of his wife and the resident matrons.

In recent years, boarding at Brockhurst has evolved into a flexible system which allows boys to board for one or more nights a week according to choice and in consequence our boarding places are now over-subscribed. Boarders have their own common room in which to relax and are given some say in the decoration of their dormitories.

Our system of flexi-boarding gives boys all the fun that is shared in a boarding community and enables them to take advantage of the many hobbies and activities provided for them during evenings and at weekends. By living together they learn to share and to have consideration for others and, with encouragement, they learn to stand on their own feet and, increasingly, to shoulder responsibility.
