Music Art & Drama | |
|
Music is a special feature at Brockhurst and is encouraged in every possible way. There is a full time Director of Music and all boys are taught singing and have lessons in musical appreciation. Pupils are prepared for the examinations of the Royal Schools of Music and the London College of Music. The school has a combined orchestra with Marlston House and several instrumental ensembles. In addition, there is a flourishing choir. Art is taught throughout the school and visits are made to galleries, museums and exhibitions. Facilities include a new studio and a fully equipped pottery which is used both in and out of normal teaching periods. Advantage is taken of the school's fine architecture and surrounding countryside for painting and drawing and talented boys are entered for art scholarships. |

Dramatic productions involve boys at all levels of the school. The main production is staged jointly with Marlston House in the Memorial Hall, which accommodates a professionally designed theatre seating up to three hundred in a tiered auditorium. Boys are involved in all aspects of the production including set design and lighting. Smaller productions, often involving individual classes, are staged at varying times during the year. |
