BBC TV Children In Need
After what seemed like months of preparation, numerous rehearsals and following an earlier afternoon hosting a BBC camera crew and two presenters to film a choir practice, the great day arrived on 17 November 2017.
A veritable army of BBC technicians, 226 local children (including some 70 from Brockhurst and Marlston House) filled the Performing Arts Centre for a long afternoon of choir practices under the baton of the indefatigable Cliff Rowley.
During the afternoon Mrs Riley and Alfio Boccaccini were separately interviewed and broadcast live on BBC Radio Berkshire. Luca Ryan was also interviewed (in three different 'takes' for three different sections of the evening’s output) talking with BBC1 South Today presenters Edward Sault and Sarah Farmer.
Then, finally, came the first of several final countdowns as our choir went live on no less than three occasions, joining several thousand children from venues across the UK as they sang Somewhere Over the Rainbow from The Wizard Of Oz.
