January's supermoon draws an admiring crowd

All pupils were invited to watch the lunar eclipse screened live during the morning of January 31 2018.  Later in the evening Mr Templeman stood on the front terrace at about 6.30 p.m. with some of the boarding pupils watching the supermoon and took the adjacent photo.

A blue moon happens when there are two full moons in the same calendar month. A supermoon happens when the moon’s closest approach to Earth coincides with a full moon, making it appear at least 14 per cent bigger and brighter in the night sky.
