Brockhurst and Marlston House pupils who consider themselves adept at their camera skills might like to participate in the Newbury Weekly News competition.
The competition is open to pupils in all year groups, and all they have to do is take a photograph that best illustrates how they see the town or village they live in. This can be a photograph of absolutely anything, so please encourage them to let their imaginations run wild – just as long as it can be linked to the ‘My Town’ theme.
The competition runs throughout next month, with a closing date of April 30th.
The NWN details are as follows. There will be three age categories – Year 5/6; Year 7-9; Year 10-13. A winner and a ‘Highly Commended’ will be chosen in each age group and then an overall winner will be crowned the NWN Young Photographer of the Year 2017. The winner in each category will receive either an iPad Mini 4 or a phone of their choice, with the overall winner also being presented with camera equipment from Fuji. All photographers that are highly commended will receive a framed copy of their picture.
The NWN’s industry award-winning photographer, Phil Cannings, will lead the judging panel. All entries will be published in a special supplement in the Newbury Weekly News on Thursday, June 8th, with the winners announced the following week.
