The Good Schools Guide

Old friend is felled by the New Year gales

Brockhurst School came to Marlston from its original home in the village of Brockhurst near Church Stretton, Shropshire, at the end of World War II.

The conker tree that blew down in the New Year gales has provided boys - and more recently girls who are at least as avid collectors as the boys - with an unending supply of high quality fruits to take back up to school and thread with string ready to play the game of 'Conkers'.  But now no more. So the avid collectors will need to concentrate their hoarding on the tree at the bottom of the cricket nets.
