On Saturday 13th May, a team of 12 junior boys went to the lAPS Judo Nationals at High Wycombe Judo Centre. In the morning, George Gil Rodriguez, Jayden Mirchandani, Jed Ford, Joseph Evans, Charlie Howard and Charlie Todd competed. Everyone fought well, with most of them winning one or more fights. George just missed out on a gold, but earned a well deserved silver.
In the afternoon, Anthony Breeze, Finn Tweedie, Matthew Wright, Dominic Hodgetts, Harrison Cox and Oliver Key fought. Harrison and Dominic were in categories with tough opposition, but they fought well considering it was their first time at the nationals. Anthony, Finn and Matthew all got through to the bronze medal competition, but unfortunately lost out on a medal this time.
Finn fought particularly well, but was narrowly beaten in the fight for bronze after many well fought rounds. Oliver was in a very hard category, but he fought very well and got a bronze medal, which was well deserved.
Overall, all of the boys fought extremely well and had a brilliant day. Thank you very much to Mr Small and Mrs Rossiter for coaching and supporting everyone.
