Weekend art workshops open to all pupils

FUTURE DATES FOR ART WORKSHOPS

Autumn and Spring term dates  

Art Workshops during the weekends for pupils in Form 4 and upwards interested in taking their art further with possible view to an art scholarship. Most of them are run over two days to give the pupils plenty of time to complete their work.

Sun Nov 26th 10-4pm An Experimental portrait drawing using mixed media and charcoal with Louise Gunnersen.

In this work shop you will play with various combinations of mediums to learn how to create effects. This knowledge will be used to create an expressive portrait.

                             Painting

In this work shop you will learn about colour theory and how to mix a harmonised palette of colours.  Working onto stretch canvas you will be advised on choosing a subject and how to build up layer of paint using underpainting and various mixing mediums.

                            Develop your own photographs

Lumen Printing is a light-sensitive, silver gelatine, photographic process using darkroom chemicals - but you don't need to be a photographer to do it! During the workshop, you will layer the paper with various natural objects and materials, from leaves and fruit to flowers and fabrics.Part of the workshop, will be taking a walk around the local area, where we will collect flora and other found objects for your prints. You will then learn to design, layer, expose and develop your lumen prints, ready to take home with you. In the second part of your workshop, you will be using a specialist Gold Toner to 'paint' your prints! You will also be applying different materials and techniques to manipulate and alter your lumens.

Feb 4th 10-4   A wonderful opportunity to work with silk with Sarah Moorcroft.

Silk Painting gives a luxurious quality to the finished piece. You will choose a theme and learn about the design process and practical application of silk painting: plan your design on paper, transfer it to silk, gutta up the design and allow it to dry. Finally, paint your silk, having learnt which colours work well together and how to apply them.

Pictures in Stitch - create textile pictures based on your own drawings or other image using fabric paint, collage and stitch and learn a range of embroidery stitches. Please wear old clothes.
