'Brockhurst and Marlston House Schools offer a unique choice of education which aims to combine the best attributes of the single sex and co-education systems.'
Marlston House offers a broad-based education where ambition is encouraged and girls are able to achieve their personal best.
Girls may join our flourishing Pre-prep department from rising three. Single-sex education in the core academic subjects starts from the age of six years but gives way to co-education in the arts and extra-curricular classes so that the best of both worlds can be experienced by the pupils.
Girls are prepared for entry to leading public schools at either 11+ or 13+ and sit either the Common Entrance or Scholarship examinations.
Together with our twin school, Brockhurst, we combine a clear philosophy of traditional education with being highly innovative. Our facilities are among the best in the sector and our newly-opened Learning Development Centre is the most recent manifestation of our determination to continually improve the education we offer.
Our aim is to provide a first class all round education through combining the best features of the single sex and co-educational systems. Pupils are encouraged to become well rounded individuals with open and enquiring minds who are confident in challenging their understanding.
The particular personal qualities we value and foster are cheerful enthusiasm, appropriate self-confidence and good manners. We develop these by setting clear expectations and providing a very wide range of opportunities both in and out of the classroom. All of our children are able to discover things they enjoy and can achieve success in. As a result, they become confident in ‘having a go’ without fear of failure and their determination to do their best, resilience and moral courage develops.
We believe this is the best preparation for future success and for leading a fulfilled life.
