Marlston House offers full and flexi-boarding and aims to make boarding an extension of family life. Boarding is central to the ethos of the school and is reflected in the very large extracurricular programme open to all pupils and the high proportion of staff who live on site. The House parents and their family live in the school next to the boarding wing and their house forms the focal point of the girls' boarding accommodation. The Houseparent’s are supported by the Senior Matron and the Assistant Matrons and other on-site boarding staff. A full and varied programme of boarding is offered with comprehensive pastoral care.
Full boarders are a very important part of the ethos of the school and great care and provision is given to ensuring their welfare and happiness.
Weekends are busy and fulfilled and the Houseparent’s and their staff are available at all times to meet the needs of both the boarding girls and their parents. Boarders have their own common room in which to relax and full use of the school's outstanding facilities.
In recent years, Marlston House has also evolved a flourishing system of flexi-boarding which allows girls to board for one or more nights a week including at weekends according to their choice. Our system of flexi-boarding gives girls all the fun that is shared in a boarding community and enables them to take advantage of the many hobbies and activities provided for the boarders.
By living together, girls learn to share and to have consideration for others and, with encouragement, they learn to stand on their own feet and, increasingly, to shoulder responsibility.
