Extracurricular

The extracurricular programme open to the girls is very broad and seen as a key part of their education. Activities are organised on-site and the timetable is constructed to ensure girls are not restricted by it in their choices.

Girls are encouraged to take part in activities and to develop as broad a range of interests as possible. They discover passions and enthusiasms which benefit all aspects of their lives including their performance in class. They learn to socialise and become independent. Their sense of wonder and enquiry is stimulated and their enthusiasm and confidence in having a go at new things is fostered.

On-site activities include:

Riding: This is enormously popular and the School has its own ponies, in addition to those brought by pupils, excellent facilities including all-weather arenas and X-country fences, and  beautiful hacks with adventure trips to our farm on Exmoor.

In addition girls play golf, learn clay pigeon and rifle shooting, enjoy ballet, modern dance, camping, bush-craft, fencing, judo, fishing, model making, building robots and drones, table tennis and snooker, photography and mountain biking among others.

Self-development

Equally importantly, time is also found for girls to create their own entertainment. This stimulates their imaginations encouraging them to invent games, to build dens and climb trees, socialise together and have time and space to themselves - even, to just sit and think.
