Online learning is available to children from Year 3 to Year 8. There are two ways for International and UK home school children to access our online education:
You can enrol into our school as an online pupil subject to the availability of places and meeting our entry requirements. Included in the fee is the opportunity for fun short stay visits to the school in term time.
You can subscribe to our online library of video catch-up recorded lessons and supporting resources covering the whole syllabus. We also offer supplementary online tutorials with our teachers.
Hybrid classrooms have pupils both in the classroom as well as actively taking part online. To enable this, our classrooms are equipped with the latest video conferencing technology supported by 1Gbpsec superfast fibre-optic broadband. All our lessons are also recorded to the Cloud and are available on catch-up on the same day.
Access to all online teaching, recorded lessons and associated resources is through our WorldClass platform.
In a hybrid class, online pupils actively participate in lessons in the same way as children in the classroom. They get to ask questions verbally, hear other questions and be part of discussions which are key to understanding and making lessons engaging and interesting. They also benefit from the same attention, supporting materials and marking of work and school reports from the teacher.
All our lessons are recorded to the Cloud and are made available on the same day as catch-up video lessons, together with their associated teaching resources. Our library of recorded lessons on WorldClass holds a full year of teaching from Year 3 to 8 and covers the whole of the UK National Curriculum and Independent schools’ syllabus. No other school offers this facility.
Recorded lessons include pupils’ questions and discussions. Children tell us that this spontaneous classroom interaction makes our recorded lessons much more engaging to listen to than other on-line video teaching methods and it helps their understanding.
The catch-up library is a free resource to all online pupils who have enrolled in the school.
Catch-up only subscribers:
Home school children who are not enrolled in the school can subscribe just to our catch-up library of recorded lessons and follow our lessons online whenever they want to and at their own pace. Subscribers have access to all our catch-up lessons from Year 1 to 8 together with their associated resources and therefore can access the syllabus at any level. Additional online tutorials from our teachers are also available to support pupils’ understanding.
Our lessons at Brockhurst and Marlston House are taught by some of the best teachers in the UK Private school sector and many of them have also worked in the State sector. They’re graduates in their specialist subjects from many of the UK’s top universities and they are also full time teachers in a real school, not on-line tutors. They meet the highest regulatory standards of safeguarding clearance and training for working with children and they are all trained in delivering this system of learning.
