An Outstanding Start To School Life
The Reception year is one of the most important stages in a child's education. It lays the foundations for future academic achievement while helping children develop socially, emotionally and physically.
As an established Early Years Private School, we focus on nurturing curiosity, resilience and independence alongside literacy and numeracy development. Children are encouraged to ask questions, explore new ideas and develop confidence in their own abilities.
Located in Hermitage near Newbury, and welcoming families from Bucklebury, Cold Ash, Chieveley and across Berkshire, our Reception provision combines the benefits of a Private Early Years School with access to the facilities, specialist teaching and opportunities of a leading prep school.

Life Beyond The Classroom
Reception children enjoy far more than a traditional classroom experience. As part of our Prep School Reception Year, children have access to specialist swimming lessons, PE, French and Music taught by experienced staff.
Popular additional activities include Ballet, Yoga, Judo, Street Dance and extra swimming lessons. Being located at the heart of the school means Reception children benefit from outstanding facilities and specialist teaching normally associated with older pupils.
Our extensive grounds, gardens and school farm provide endless opportunities for hands-on learning and exploration. During our much-loved Welly Wednesdays, children spend time outdoors discovering seasonal changes, exploring woodland paths, visiting the River Pang and learning about the natural world around them.
Welly Camp is always a highlight. After an afternoon of outdoor adventure, children gather around the campfire to enjoy hot chocolate, toasted marshmallows and pancakes while sharing stories with friends.
